San Francisco Food Insecurity and Hunger

Gujral Community Fund Grant Announcement – Second Harvest of Silicon Valley

San Francisco, CA

The Gujral Community Fund (GCF) is pleased to announce a grant to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Ashok Gujral, founder of GCF, is inspired by Second Harvest’s mission to ensure access to healthy food to all who need it.

Food insecurity in Silicon Valley has reached crisis-levels, with the pandemic-induced economic downturn pushing families deeper into poverty. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley believes that hunger is unacceptable. Their staff, volunteers, and donors help provide food to an average of 500,000 kids, families, and seniors every month. They distribute food through a network of over 300 nonprofit partners and pick-up sites throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Programs and activities include grocery programs, school and summer meals for kids, nutrition education, advocacy, and through their network of partner organizations.

You, too, can help Second Harvest of Silicon Valley through donations, volunteering, virtual food drives, and more.

The mission of the Gujral Community Fund is to improve the lives of families by contributing time and resources to organizations with the infrastructure and ability to make a positive impact in our community.
